Canada Moves Toward Eliminating Animal Testing for Cosmetics

Canada might be the next country to ban animal testing for all cosmetic products.

Treehugger reports that in mid-December, the Cruelty Free Cosmetics Act (Bill S-214) passed its second reading in Canada’s Senate. Next, the bill moves on to another review by the Senate committee for Social Affairs, Science, and Technology for further study.

If enacted, Canada will join New Zealand, Brazil, the European Union, Israel, India, and Taiwan in banning animal testing for all cosmetic products sold in the country. It will include a ban of the sale of products that have been newly animal tested elsewhere in the world.
